The Highland Boxing Academy athlete has been selected by the Boxing Scotland High Scotland Performance Programme to be part of their Elite Boxing Group.

The programme will provide Fioretti with the opportunity to represent Scotland in competitions worldwide and the potential to compete at the Commonwealth Games and be nominated for selection onto the GB World Class Olympic Programme.

Fioretti showed promise last year when she was crowned Golden Gloves champion.

HBA head coach Liam Foy says it is another step towards Fioretti realising her potential of making it far in the sport.

He said: “She will get opportunities to box for Scotland and hopefully it will culminate in her being selected for the Scotland squad for the Commonwealth Games.

“She is in the team, now if all goes to plan she could represent Scotland. She has been down for assessments at the high performance centre.

“She had an international test match and she has been picked for the team.

“She is a superb talent and has every attribute that you want in a boxer. “She is disciplined, committed and she is meeting all of our expectations that we ask of our boxers.

“She has a great coachable demeanour about her. She is keen to learn and is incredibly competitive which are characteristics that have served well.”

Fioretti also received seven awards at the Highland Boxing Awards last year.

Last year she also reprsented Scotland at the GB Three Nations.
