Ross County seal loan signing of versatile Blackpool defender Zac Ashworth as Welsh youth international moved to Dingwall for remainder of 2024/25 season
Ross County have completed the signing of defender Zac Ashworth on loan for the rest of the season from Blackpool.
The 22-year-old left-sided defender is a product of the West Bromwich Albion academy, and has previously enjoyed productive loan spells with Burton Albion and Bolton Wanderers in the English lower leagues.
He signed permanent for Blackpool last summer for an undisclosed fee, making 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Ashworth’s last outing in Orange was a memorable one, as Blackpool took on Aston Villa’s under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
The match ended 1-1, with Ashworth playing the full game, but then a marathon penalty shoot-out ensued that Villa would eventually win 18-17.
Ashworth is also a Welsh under-21 international, playing nine times for the national age group since 2022.
Staggies manager Don Cowie commented on the signing: “We are really pleased to add Zac to the group.
“He comes with a good amount of games played in English football as well as with the Welsh national team at youth level.
“He is a versatile player who has experience playing as a full back as well as at centre back.”
Cowie had previously revealed he was closing in on a defensive signing, and County had been linked with a move for Norwich City defender Jonathan Tomkinson earlier in the week, but Ashworth’s arrival has taken the final loan space available to County for the time being.
